Time to stock up on the Mountain Dew, Natalie's coming to see me. YIPPEE! We had a Biggest Loser contest going in our Peck Family and the prize was two plane tickets from our Uncle Shane. Natalie did it. She won. Congrats to Natalie, Alyson, Jocelyn, and Kelsey for hanging in there!

LIONS, TIGERS, AND BEARS...OH MY!

Kristen, Tiffanie, and I ( my two good friends here) took the kids to the Memphis Zoo on Friday. We had a really good time despite the fact that it was "elementary field trip day." Here are a few things I learned that day at the zoo.....

1. Ryleigh is not a giraffe fan. It totally freaked her out!
2. I hate my stroller! That thing can put me in the foulest mood.
3. My kids care more about the food than the animals...hmmm wonder where they learned that from???
4. and.....compared to every kid there, my girl's definitely needed a tan to fit in. LOL :)

OH FUN TIMES!

HEY BATTER BATTER......

Baseball has been going really well. Carson is so athletic. It just amazes me. He's pulling doubles, triples, catching balls straight lined to him, hitting every time he's up, and he's always "baseball ready." Dave has been the head coach and he's doing really well. I know he gets pretty frustrated when they loose and tends to blame it all on himself (cusses, hits things, pouts,...kidding, kind of!) but I think he does a great job. Dave loves the game of baseball and it definitely has been passed down to Carson. We're excited to see how the rest of the season goes.
GO GIANTS!

The past 3 days.....

The past three days have been busy with a Farm Birthday party, visits from bee keepers, and exciting packages from home.

Yesterday was the second time since we've lived here that the bee keepers have paid our neighbors a visit. Beehives totally gross me out, but I'm amazed at how these guys work in these swarms with such grace. Do you think deep down in they're a little freaked out. Maybe not. Have you seen that episode on Dirtiest Jobs about the bees????? Crazy!

Aren't these so cute? My mother in law MaryAnn sent these to the girl's. They loved them. I thought this was such a cute idea. So for all of you sewers, here's a new idea for you. Thanks MaryAnn my kids love the packages.
Ryleigh was a little superstar. She got right up with no complaints and started riding. I thought she would be nervous because she's my timid child, but I was proven wrong. She loved it. Don't you love those goldilocks popping out of her helmet. She definitely adds style to horseback riding.

BUSY AS A BEE!

Keeping Busy!
As I got home from church today, kicked my feet up and went through all of my Young Women and Camp info~ I realized how lucky I am to be busy. Not only does it keep my mind off the two little munchkin boys I'm missing out on holding in Utah, but it really helps keep me focused in my life and my families life. Isn't it funny how the busier you are the more motivated, organized, and focused you become. At least that's how it works for me. Although..... I was just nominated for a PTA board position and my answer to that was "what are they thinking, don't they know I'm Mormon and that's my part time job!" I knew I probably could have done it, but my goal lately has been to "SAY NO" and not try to always be a superstar. My family and faith come first, and if I can't give those two 100 percent of my time, then I have to say no.

Orlando, Fl. 2008

OUR "MILLION DREAMS "VACATION
We're baaack!!!! We had a really good time in Orlando (despite the weather). Our kids had a wonderful time and that's exactly what we had hoped for. This vacation was something we've wanted to do for a while now and with it being my 30th I decided it was perfect timing and a perfect bday gift. This was Carson's first year where he was tall enough to ride every single roller coaster. He loves it. That boy has no fears. Cara was smiling and full of drama as she always is. My favorite part of our trip was when she saw the Disney Princesses. My heart just melted. She loved them and hugged them and could not keep her eyes off of them. Very precious! As always Ryleigh enjoyed the food, (like her mother) and the fun cups filled with carbonated drinks (like her mother). She was a trooper. There were times where she stood in line and wasn't even rewarded with a ride at the end. She did really good. We were also lucky enough to be joined by our friends Brandon and Amy Smith and their kids. It was fun to have other kids around for my kids to play with and adults to hang out with and talk to at night. Thanks Brandon and Amy for joining us. All in all it was a wonderful trip and we're hoping to do it again next year.

My 2 new nephews

Tyson "Ty" Gregory Markham
Alyson and Aaron's babies have finally arrived. Both Alyson and my sister in law Angela went over their due dates. YUCK! Talk about missing out on a big week in Utah. I would have loved to have been there to hold them and love them. I'm excited for both families and can't wait to meet these little guys in person. Congrats Aaron and Angela and Alyson and Greg! Both babies are beautiful.

Happy Brithday Mom!

Happy Birthday to Grandma Shauna
So there's 4 grandkids, 1 daughter in law, and 1 son in law missing from this picture, but this was the picture that stood out most to me when I decided I wanted to pay a birthday tribute to my Mom. This picture tells it all. My Mom is the rock of our family. The most important thing to my Mom is her faith and her family. Everything she has and gives is to her family and the church. On her wall she has a cross stitch reading "We Will All Go Home Together." I truly believe we will and I know we owe that to my Mom. Mom~ I too love you "more than tongue can tell." Happy Birthday!

My 30th Birthday

This was the perfect birthday!
It started the night before with the youth singing Happy Birthday to me, followed by some yummy chocolate b-day cake. How thoughtful of my Presidency. Then on my actual birthday I went out to Red Robin for lunch with some of my Memphis friends. These ladies have really helped to make Memphis home for me. That night Dave and I went to dinner at Stix (like Bennihanna's) and had a really enjoyable time. We forget how peaceful it is to sit at the table without kids crawling up on our laps. I had a billion things to do and lots of checking off to do on my "to do" list and I was way behind getting ready for our Disney trip but it was all worth it. It was a wonderful 30th birthday. Thanks to those of you who sent me gifts, cards, and emails. You all made my day!

Happy Birthday to US!!

Well today is the big day. My 30th birthday. I'm crazy busy and have tons to do (post to come) but I knew I needed to take a time out and wish Natalie a Happy Birthday also. Those of you who have known or know us~ know that we've been pretty inseparable most of our lives. This move has been really hard for me in the fact that I don't have my sisters around. It is a challenge at times but I know they're just a phone call away. Natalie you've been my rock! I'm so grateful to have you as a sister and a friend. Happy 30th. I love you tons!
(Nicole long hair, Natalie shorter hair)
This is pre-babies, stretch marks, and marriage. Natalie tends to be hard on herself so I decided to post pictures when we were thinner and younger. Natalie can you believe we're 30??? Crazy! It seems like just yesterday that we were in Las Vegas on Spring break taking that picture of us popping out behind the tree. OHHHH....fun times! All I can wish for is 30 more years of health and happiness, for the both of us of course!

Mom and Dad~ Thank you for giving me 30 wonderful years. So how do you feel now that your oldest have turned 30????? OLD, kidding! You both look great and I couldn't have asked for better parents.

SPAGHETTI NIGHT AT THE REES HOUSE....CLOTHES COME OFF, BIBS GO ON, AND HAIR GOES UP!

A big upset for the Memphis Tigers

Poor Memphis Tigers. What happened???? We know what happened... they totally gave the game away. So things didn't work out for Memphis in the NCAA tournament last night but despite the poor ending of the game we had a fun night. Some of the brethren in the Ward came over and enjoyed the game with us. Having a projector T.V. has been a ton of fun. It gets used greatly when it comes to entertaining...especially entertaining middle aged men, free of their wife and kids, and enough chips and salsa to keep Chili's in business for the night. (Thanks Erika for joining me and holding the fort down as the only two females in the house.)

Herb Parsons Lake

Yesterday in between conference sessions we decided to take a drive out to Herb Parson's Lake. Isn't it funny how you can live so close to something so big and not even know it exist? This lake is like 10 miles away from us. How come we have never heard anything about it??? Crazy! We took a very muddy walk around the lake. We decided after the 1 mile marker that Ryleigh wasn't going to last much longer without us holding her so we turned around. The kids were troopers, but Dave and I decided we'll go back alone and do the full 7 miles around the lake. Kind of a fun date idea!!!

Conference Weekend

I love Conference weekend. I love hearing the voices of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and listening to the words of our Prophet and other church leaders. I would have to say I'm a big fan of Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf. I loved his talk on the "Faith of our Fathers." I'm also excited about the changes in the YW presidency, our new apostle Elder Christofferson and I absolutely loved the way sustainings were done. All in all, a wonderful conference.

Great Movie!

If you're in need of a good family flick I strongly suggest this movie "Nim's Island". The kids loved it and I was actually very entertained too. It's kind of got a "Swiss Family Robinson" kick to it and I loved that movie when I was a kid.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Today April 4th, 40 years ago~ the day Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated here at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. We were at the motel (Civil Rights Museum) just a few days ago touring with family. Those of you who have visited this memorial know how real and sobering it is.
This is a picture of my kids standing in front of his car and the wreath that marks the spot of his death.
U2 lyrics~In the Name of Love
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride.....
In the name of love,
what more in the name of love!

ELVIS

After driving past Graceland yesterday and watching Priscilla dance on "Dancing With The Stars" I've decided Memphis has turned me into an ELVIS fan. I'm getting to where I really like his music and have become really interested in his biography. He did have his flaws but just look at that face......what a handsome man he was.

Lee and Stacey stop in for a visit

My cousin Lee, his wife Stacey, and their daughter Paige stopped in for a visit on their way to their new home in Washington D.C. It was great to hang out, give them a Memphis tour, watch some Idol, and reminisce. Lee flies helicopters with the Army and after a few tours he now gets to be stationed in D.C. where hopefully he'll get to stay stateside for a while.
The girl's at the jukebox in downtown Memphis with
"their feet 10 feet off of Beale."
Lee, Stacey, and Paige in front of the Civil Rights Museum.

Cara and Ryleigh decided to teach Paige the rules of "dress up", but wait.....where's Paige????
Oh there she is!
